Job Description

The Fashion Production Head is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production process of fashion collections, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and cost-efficiency. This role involves managing production schedules, supplier relationships, quality control, and workflow optimization. The ideal candidate has deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate between design teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure the highest standards of product quality and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning and Management:
  • Oversee the entire production process, from sourcing raw materials to final product delivery.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure designs are translated into production efficiently and within budget.
  • Create and manage production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met for all collections and orders.
  • Work closely with manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to monitor production timelines.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, and production terms to ensure the best quality at the most competitive rates.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability, ensuring the company’s standards are met.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with ethical sourcing, sustainability practices, and industry regulations.
  • Quality Control:
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes throughout the production cycle to ensure products meet the company’s quality standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections at various stages of production, identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
  • Work with production teams to resolve any quality issues and ensure that products meet design and quality specifications.
  • Cost Management and Budgeting:
  • Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Analyze production costs and implement strategies to optimize production processes and reduce expenses.
  • Work closely with finance teams to ensure accurate tracking of production costs and stay within allocated budgets.
  • Workflow and Process Optimization:
  • Continuously review and improve production processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other efficiency methodologies to enhance production workflow.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify bottlenecks in the production process and develop solutions for smoother operations.
  • Collaboration with Design and Development Teams:
  • Work closely with designers, merchandisers, and product developers to ensure seamless coordination between the creative and production phases.
  • Translate creative designs into scalable production processes without compromising design integrity.
  • Provide input on material selection, feasibility, and production constraints to optimize both design and production.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage the production team, including production coordinators, quality controllers, and other team members.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the team, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and standards.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage continuous professional development within the team.
  • Risk Management and Problem-Solving:
  • Identify potential risks or challenges in the production process and develop contingency plans.
  • Proactively address production delays, material shortages, or other issues that could impact timelines or quality.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts when production issues arise and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Sustainability and Compliance:
  • Ensure all production processes adhere to ethical sourcing and environmental sustainability practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure the company is compliant with labor laws, health and safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Work with suppliers to adopt sustainable materials and practices that align with the company’s sustainability goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Production Management, Textile Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in fashion production management, including a leadership role in overseeing manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end production, including budgeting, supplier management, and quality control.
  • Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes, textile sourcing, and supply chain management.
