About the job
As an Assistant Category Manager, you will be integral in supporting the Category Manager to optimize our product assortment, manage vendor partnerships, and execute effective sales strategies. You will be involved in key activities such as partner management, assortment planning, and inventory control, ensuring a seamless and impactful category management process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners. Negotiate terms, manage product supply, and address any issues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assortment Planning: Collaborate on developing and refining the product assortment for your assigned categories. Analyze market trends and customer needs to ensure the right mix of products.
  • Website Catalogue Creation: Oversee the creation and management of the online product catalogue, ensuring accurate and engaging product listings on Sephora’s website.
  • OTB & Inventory Management: Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets and inventory levels. Monitor stock levels and forecast demand to optimize inventory and reduce excess stock.
  • Manage Product Promotions: Plan and execute promotional activities, including product launches, discounts, and special events, to drive sales and enhance customer engagement.
  • Develop Sales Strategies for Slow Movers: Analyze sales data to identify slow-moving products. Develop and implement strategies to boost their performance, including targeted promotions and repositioning efforts.

Qualifications:

Experience:- 4-7 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or a similar role, preferably within the retail or beauty sector.
Education:- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
Skills:- Partner Management: Proven experience in managing vendor relationships and negotiations.
Assortment Planning:- Strong ability to analyze market trends and customer needs to curate effective product assortments.
Technical Proficiency:- Experience with website catalogue management and understanding of e-commerce platforms.
Inventory Management:- Skilled in managing inventory, forecasting demand, and controlling OTB budgets.
Promotional Strategies:- Ability to plan and manage effective promotional campaigns.
Sales Strategy Development: Experience in creating and executing strategies to improve the performance of slow-moving products.
Analytical Skills:- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in using data to drive business decisions.
Communication:- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Project Management:- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
